Name of the sailboat
Pherousa
One of the Nereids, who was called "pherousa" (=because she was carrying=φέρουσα=pherousa) the chariot of the Nereids.
Pherousa was assisting the sailors when they were facing danger in the sea and she is mentioned in Iliad of Homer (V 43) as well as in Theogony.
Pherousa is associated with the power of the great ocean swells.
Nereids, goddesses of the calm sea, friendly towards people according to the Greek mythology, were nymphs that impersonated the situations and features of the sea. Daughters of Nereus and the Oceanid Doris and hence granddaughters of Oceanus. Possibly, they impersonated the uncountable sea waves. They were approximately fifty, while according to another opinion they reached one hundred.
Nereids were living on the bottom of the sea, in their father’s palace and they were spending their time swimming and playing with dolphins or sitting on golden thrones or rocks singing and weaving or drying their bushy and long hair. They did not allow any mortal woman to compare her beauty with theirs. They had the power to disturb and calm the sea. In general, they were always joyful about their immortality and they were accompanying the chariots of the undersea gods.
Also, the basic wavy curve in radio frequencies is called “Pherousa” (carrier frequency).
What is the offshore sailboat?
According to the insurance market Lloyd, the offshore sailboats constitute the safest means of transportation. Their seaworthiness is so recognized that the prohibition of sailing that is issued by the port authority does not apply to them. The distances that they travel are unlimited, they can circumnavigate the world and not only theoretically, since a lot of ocean-going sailboats have already done it.
PHERUSA is such a safe sailboat. It has well-developed accommodation spaces, five double cabins, three toilets, living room, full-equipped kitchen with galley with gas installations, fridge and refrigerator. Twelve people can live and travel comfortably in the size we recommend.
Ecology – Environment
The Cruise and sea tours take place in a traditional and ecological way by exploiting basically the renewable energy resources, wind and solar energy, by leaving the minimum pollution footprint in the environment. This type of sailboats, as it is mentioned in their certificate of registry uses as basic means of propulsion the sails, i.e. they sail with the wind and their sails.
